Expert Opinion

"Austrian resorts are famous for their après ski (St Anton, Ischgl and Kitzbühel in particular are vivacious and cosmopolitan), the scenery is rather spectacular and you can feel the ski history around you. Oh, and the skiing is pretty good too!"

Skiing in Austria

skiing in austria 150x110 Last year we complemented our ‘Shorter’ Breaks programme by adding three renowned Austrian ski resorts - St Anton, Lech and Ischgl– ideal for 7 day skiing holidays. We have now expanded our European programme even further by adding another four resorts - Bad Gastein/Bad Hofgastein, Saalbach/Hinterglemm, Zell am See/Kaprunand Kitzbühel. If you are after a flexible, great value ski holiday for less than a week, these resorts are ideal destinations.

You can really sense a strong sense of ski tradition and history in each of the Austrian resorts. High alpine meadows provide forgiving intermediate terrain, steep-sided valleys lend themselves to black-run descents and idyllic mountain villages are dotted along the valley floor.

And once the lifts stop, Austrian resorts come into their own. The après-ski is legendary, particularly in St Anton, Ischgl, Kitzbühel with their open-til-dawn bars and nightclubs. Relaxing, comfortable dining is also available everywhere. skiing in austria 150x110

St Anton, Lech and Ischgl are all easily accessed from Zurich airport by car, private transfer or train - the transfer time is 2 hours to Lech and St Anton and 3 hours to Ischgl. St Anton is easily accessible by train but we recommend hiring a car or private transfer for Lech and Ischgl as neither resort has a station. We have now made it even easier for you, all four new resorts are all only 1 1/2 hours drive from Salzburg airport. Private transfers to the resorts are highly reccommended for comfort, speed and cost although train and car hire are possible.
