Expert Opinion

“One of the most famous resorts in the world, Vail has a lovely town and a great ski area, the pinnacle of which is the stunning back bowls - a paradise for intermediate and advanced skiers/riders”.

Vail is the capital of skiing in the Rockies with the largest ski area in the US and an attractive European-style village brimming with excellent bars, restaurants and fashionable shops.

There is masses of skiing for all abilities and the tree lined trails of Blue Sky Basin and the off-piste terrain of the 'back bowls' are not to be missed. The Vail Ski School enjoys a fantastic reputation and the resort has excellent facilities for children. Vail is a popular choice for snowboarders drawn to the wide gladed runs as well as the terrain park and super-pipe on Golden Peak.

The swanky hotels tend to be in Vail Village itself and the more reasonably priced accommodation clustered around the Lionshead base area. Vail has an abundance of nightlife and a similar apres-ski atmosphere to that of a European resort. This, together with the vast ski area, make Vail a fantastic choice for a 10-14 night stay.
